Born and raised by Ethiopian immigrants in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Chxrry22 always loved to sing but never fully visualized the possibilities ahead of her. However, things changed in 2017 when she emerged as a promising talent after posting videos of herself singing covers on social media. Her perspective shifted when the videos went viral and landed her a deal with XO Records, the label headed by fellow Toronto native The Weeknd.
